A'Famosa Golf Resort – Rockies Course

The A’Famosa Golf Resort is situated by the city of Alor Gajah, which lies in the west of the southeast Asian island state of Malaysia. Named after the famous Portuguese fort from the 16th century, located near Malakka, it stretches across an area of 520 hectares, in the middle of jungle and open landscape. Just 20 minutes away from Alor Gajah’s center, the A’Famosa Golf Resort is just a 45-minute journey from Malaysia’s capital of Kuala Lumpur. The club opened in 1997 and houses a total of three 9-hole parkland courses, each with par 36, designed by the Australian golf course architect Ross Watson. The Rockies Course measures 3,182 meters and presents several changes in elevation due to its hilly layout. The fairways are contoured, and numerous bunkers decorate the lanes. Additionally, the Rockies Course at the A’Famosa Golf Resort is equipped with floodlights. The Crocodile Course is 3,154 meters long and has more open fairways with bunkers and several water hazards. Its highlight is hole 7 with an island green and a pit in which real crocodiles lurk. Finally, the Palms Course measures 3,215 meters and features fairways densely flanked by coconut palms, pot bunkers, and elevated greens. For tournaments, the combination of Rockies and Palms is most frequently used. In 2011, the golf park at A’Famosa Golf Resort hosted the Malaysian Amateur Open Golf Championship.
