Alpine Lake Resort

The Alpine Lake Resort is found in the city of Terra Alta, which is situated in Preston County in the US state of West Virginia. It lies on an 800-hectares-large, densely forested area near Maryland’s border, and is located amidst the tranquil mountain landscape of the West Virginian Alleghenies. From Terra Alta’s inner city you can reach the Alpine Lake Resort in 9 minutes via the WV-7 E. From Deep Creek Lake in Maryland, however, you will need 40 minutes to get to the resort. Ron Forse designed this 18-hole, par 72 course, which opened in 1978 and was then renovated in 1992 with the purpose of adding wider fairways. The 5,549-meter-long course has wide fairways flanked by trees, large greens, a few smaller bunkers and doglegs surround by dense forest. Water hazards can be found at 5 of the 18 holes in the form of lakes, streams and water ditches. The most interesting hole is hole 10, its green surrounded by water on three sides. In the center of the Alpine Lake Resort’s golf course lies a 60-hectares-large lake, fed by hot springs and mountain streams. Five of the holes offer a wonderful view of the lake. The Alpine Lake Resort’s picturesque layout is the reason it was selected as one of the Top 50 most beautiful and pleasant destinations in the USA.
