Aquiraz Riviera Golf Club

The Aquiraz Riviera Golf Club is near the city of Aquiraz on the northeastern coast of Brazil in the state of Ceará. It is on a 35-hectare-large area in the luxury resort Aquiraz Riviera, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, sand dunes and the beach at Marambaía. From Aquiraz, the Aquiraz Riviera Golf Club can easily be reached in about 20 minutes, while it takes almost an hour from the capital of the state, Fortaleza, to the club. In 2009, it first opened a 9-hole-course, which was soon transformed into an 18-hole-course in the type links with par 72. The 6,377-meter-long course was designed by the well-known golf course architect Donald Steel. He created a layout, which consists of the two 9-hole-loops Ocean Course and Dunes Course. The Dunes Course, built on a huge sand dune, has mostly short fairways and is home to some lakes and streams as water hazards. At holes 1 and 3, these lakes must be overplayed with tees of 100 to 150 meters. While a large island green awaits at hole 4, the golfers must also overplay dunes besides the stream at hole 7. On the contrary, the Ocean Course has long, narrow fairways, many deep bunkers, few water hazards and a fantastic view of the Atlantic. It is no coincidence that the course at the Aquiraz Riviera Golf Club is said to be one of the most beautiful courses of the country.
