Aroeira Golf Club – Aroeira II

The Aroeira Golf Club is located in the town of Charnaca de Caparica near the Costa da Caparica, south of the river Tejo. It lies on an area of 350 hectares in the nature preserve Parque Natural da Arrábida and is surrounded by natural pine groves and fragrant wild flowers. Only 20 minutes from Lisbon, the Aroeira Golf Club can be quickly reached via the IP7. With its large area, it is the largest golf complex in the nearby area of the capital. The club is located directly on the estate Herdade de Aroeira and is only 600 meters from the 30-kilometer long white sand beach of Costa da Caparica. It was founded in 1973 and boasts an 18-hole course Aroeira I, type woodland with par 72. Its designed is credited to Frank Pennink who designed the flat space between thousands of pines with slightly hilly fairways, bunkers, and lakes. Aroeira I is one of the best courses in Europe and has been the location of the Portuguese Open twice. In 2000, the Aroeira Golf Club added the 18-hole course Aroeira II, type woodland with par 72. Donald Steel was responsible for its design and he designed the fairways of the athletically-challenging course around five lakes.
