Axis Golfe Ponte de Lima

The golf club Axis Golfe Ponte de Lima is located near the old Roman city of Ponte de Lima in the northern Portuguese region of Minho. Surrounded by romantic vineyards, it is spread out over six kilometers along the cliffs of Monte da Madalena in the valley of the river Lima. Axis Golfe Ponte de Lima offers a beautiful view of Ponte de Lina, as well as of several old mansions that have been included in the club due to infrastructural reasons. The club lies roughly 20 kilometers from the ocean and can be reached via the A3 from Braga and Porto. It was founded in 1995 and boasts a 6,005-meter long 18-hole Axis Golfe Ponte de Lima course, type mountain/plain with par 71. Danila and David Silva were responsible for its design it two loops of nine holes. The first nine holes run along the terrain of the former mansion Quinta de Anquiao between 100-year old chestnut and oak trees. The second nine holes are located on the estate of Quinta de Pais and must cross through a narrow pass before continuing into the Lima valley. Interesting is hole 3 of the varied course that is the longest in Portugal with 622 meters.
