Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club

The Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club is located in the municipality of Rio Grande on the Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico, which is an unincorporated territory of the USA. It is located on a 121.25-hectare-large area of the Bahia Beach Plantation in a nature reserve with a great view on the tropical rain forest El Yunque and the crescent sand beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. From the center of Rio Grande the Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club can be reached in six minutes via the PR-187 and in about a half an hour from Puerto Rico’s capital San Juan. In 1991, it opened the 18-hole Bahia Beach Golf Course with par 72, whose layout was designed by the famous golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr.. The 5,863-meter-long course is characterized by hilly fairways, that are densely lined by trees, spacious greens and some doglegs, which seem to imitate the crescent shape of the nearby beaches. But the golf course is dominated by the water hazards that can be found at 15 of the 18 holes and that mostly run along the entire length of the fairway. Hole 13, where the tees are already in the water, is interesting. In addition, there are many bunkers, especially at hole 15, which is shielded well by a large collection of bunkers. But the holes 17 and 18, that are located right on the Atlantic Ocean, are the highlights of the Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club.
