The Bay Harbor Golf Club is located in Bay Harbor, a suburb of the city of Petoskey, which belongs to Emmet County in the US state of Michigan. It runs along the banks of Lake Michigan up to Pebble Beach and through the grounds of a former slate quarry. From Petoskey’s center, the Bay Harbor Golf Club can be reached in eleven minutes, and the trip from the next largest city of Gaylord takes about 50 minutes via the E Thumb Lake Rd and US-131 N. The club features a 27-hole complex, comprised of three 9 hole courses which can be played individually as 18 hole courses. The combinations that can be played are preserve/links with par 72 and 6,227 meters, quarry/preserve with par 72 and 6150 meters as well as links/quarry with par 72 and 6,276 meters. In 1996, the links course was opened at the Bay Harbor Golf Club, and the quarry and preserve a year later. Golf course architect Arthur Hills was responsible for the design of the courses. The links course runs along a hilly terrain, close to the coastline of Lake Michigan, and is considered the most expensive 9-hole course that was ever built. The preserve course is characterized by wetlands, dense deciduous forests, as well as lush greens, and allows a wonderful view of the coast. The quarry course winds through the 12 meter high gorges of the former quarry, surrounded by cliffs, ponds and a waterfall.
