Bjärkas Golf

The golf club Bjärkas Golf is situated at the edge of the village of Nivelax, on the island Kemiösaari/Kimito in the Turku archipelago off the southwestern coast of Finland. It lies on the terrain of the old Bjärkas farmstead, whose existence can be traced back to the year of 1689. Even though Bjärkas Golf lies on an island, it has a good traffic connection to the Finnish mainland. From the 60-kilometer far Salo it is reachable over Routes 52 and 183, and from the 75-kilometer far Turku by Route 181. The club was opened in 2006 and has the 18-hole Bjärkas Golf Par-3 course of the parkland/woodland type, with par 54. This was the first golf course of its kind in Finland. The terrain of the course is hilly with many, large water hazards, sand bunkers, partially very slanted greens, and long fairways that are flanked by thick birches and other tree species. Especially noteworthy in Bjärkas Golf is the island green on the final hole 18. Due to its design, the course poses several sporting challenges to golfers playing it, however it is manageable for beginners as well. Practice opportunities are provided by the club’s own driving range with eight tees, as well as a Putt&Chip area for short game training.
