Black Forest Golf & Country Club

The Black Forest Golf & Country Club is situated near the border point Bukit Kayu Hitam at the Malaysian-Thai border in northern Malaysia. It lies behind the duty free zone of Bukit Kayu Hitam and is bordered by a 28-hectare forest area to the east and rubber and sugarcane plantations to the west. From Bukit Kayu Hitam’s center, the Black Forest Golf & Country Club can be reached in half an hour, while the trip from the cities of Jitra and Alor Setar takes about 35 to 50 minutes. The club opened an 18-hole parkland course with par 72 in 1996, for which Datuk Paduka Ahmed Basri Bir Hj. Akil supplied the design. On flat terrain, he created a course measuring 6,501 meters with long, wavy fairways lined by 1,000 trees and fast, wide greens protected by 50 bunkers. Several doglegs as well as ten ponds and lakes serve as water hazards and complete the obstacles of the demanding course at the Black Forest Golf & Country Club, which is suitable for experienced golfers as well as beginners. The signature hole is hole 3, where golfers have to play across a large pond. Hole 12 also expects a powerful shot across water. The club’s practice area offers a driving range, a putting and chipping area, as well as practice bunkers for training purposes.
