Carmel Valley Ranch

The golf club Carmel Valley Ranch is located near the small town of Carmel-by-the-Sea in Monterey County, California. It stretches across 125 hectares of flat terrain in the middle of the Carmel Valley Ranch Resort, surrounded by the Santa Lucia Mountains, and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding oak forests, lavender fields, and wineries. Only a few kilometers from the Pacific coast, the golf club Carmel Valley Ranch is only 15 minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea, and only 19 minutes from Monterey. It opened its 18-hole course, type links with par 70, in 1981, designed by the renowned golf course architect Pete Dye. The 5,593-meter long course boasts very wavy fairways with remarkable differences in altitude and multi-level, fast greens which are all either raised or set in a depression. Numerous bunkers, dog legs, double dog legs, as well as several water hazards give the course its challenging nature. The first nine holes boast very narrow fairways with difficult greens that snake along the Carmel River. The last nine holes are situated at an elevation of 320 meters above the valley and excite with their elevated tees. The championship course at the golf club Carmel Valley Ranch is one of the 25 most challenging golf courses in California according to the Reise- und Freizeit Magazin, even one of the best in the world.
