The Golfclub Golf de Carthage is located in La Soukra, a northern suburb of the Tunisian capital of Tunis. It lies on a surface of 29 hectares, embedded in the picturesque orange groves of La Soukra near the Gulf of Tunis. From Tunis’ city center and its international airport, Golfclub Golf de Carthage can be reached in about half an hour via the N 9 and N 10. The club was founded in 1927 and calls an 18-hole Florida course with par 66 its own. It was redesigned by French golf course architect Yves Bureau in 1991. The relatively narrow and short course is determined by wavy, thin fairways lined by palm trees, orange trees, olive trees, cypresses, and eucalyptus trees. There are few sand bunkers, but water at 5 of the 18 holes thanks to two artificial lakes. Holes 2, 4, and 18 are especially noteworthy, featuring elevated greens defended by several ponds. The 14th hole is also remarkable with its three-level green. The layout of the course at the Golfclub Golf de Carthage is considered technically and tactically demanding, but can easily be mastered by golfers of all playing abilities. North Africa’s oldest golf club offers its golfers a practice area with a driving range with 30 tee-off mats, practice bunkers, as well as a putting and a pitching green for comprehensive golf training.
