Castro Marim Golfe & Country Club

The Castro Marim Golfe & Country Club is located in the north of the medieval city of Castro Marim, near the Spanish border in the eastern Algarve. It lies at a high altitude, offering a wonderful view of the hills between the province of Alentejo and the Algarve in the north, the rive Guardiana and the Spanish border in the east, as well as the Atlantic Ocean in the south. Around 5 kilometers from Castro Marim, the Castro Marim Golfe & Country Club can be reached in 45 minutes from the Faro Airport via the A22. It has a 27-hole course comprised of three separate 9-hole courses: Guardiana, Atlântico, and Grouse, which can be played in two interesting 18-hole combinations. Both the combinations Grouse-Guardiana and Guardiana-Atlântico are possible. All the courses were designed by Terry Murray. The courses Guardiana and Atlântico were opened in 2001 and Grouse in 2008. The latter was a more open designed with significantly few trees, offering a view of the interior-lying hills, in contrast to the other courses. Guardiana and Atlântico cut through groves of pine trees and are characterized by large lakes, doglegs, bunkers, and fast, sometimes elevated greens and uneven fairways. The course at Castro Marim Golfe & Country Club is the first golf course built in the region and can be played by golfers of all handicaps.
