Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira

The Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira is located in the interior of the Azores Island Terceira between both the main towns of Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória. It lies at an altitude of 375 meters and amazes with its surrounding seas of flowers with azaleas, strelitzias, hydrangeas, and magnolias, as well as numerous lakes. Well-connected to the local transportation system, the Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira can be reached from Angra do Heroísmo in the south and from Praia da Vitória in the east via the VR in 15 minutes. From Lajes Field Airport, players need only ten minutes to the golf course. It was opened in 1954 and created by American soldiers at the Air Force Base Lajes Field. The 18-hole course with par 72 is 6,090 meters long and situated between low hills and small water hazards. Of the three golf courses on the Azores Islands, Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira is considered the easiest to play. Wide, straight fairways and only a few bunkers make playing easier on the course surrounded by 70,000 Japanese cedars. Small details such as elevated tees over ravines or ponds also grace the course. Additionally, 130-meters of bushes were planted to increase the level of difficulty.
