Comandatuba Ocean Course

The Comandatuba Ocean Course is in the community of Una in the Brazilian state of Bahia. It is on the premises of the Hotel Transamérica, which is on the tropical peninsula Comandatuba between the Atlantic and the Canal de Comandatuba. The Comandatuba Ocean Course is only seven minutes from the Una-Comandatuba airport and can therefore be quickly reached from Salvador, the capital of Bahia, in 45 minutes. The course was opened in 2000 and was built as an 18-hole-course in the type of a links course with par 72, which was designed by the American golf course architect Dan Blankenship, a student of Pete Dye. The course runs across wavy terrain, embedded between the Ocean and mangroves, palm trees, tropical vegetation, lakes and sand dunes. It is 6,334 meters long and is characterized by 12 lakes as water hazards, many sandy areas and banks. The last five holes run directly next to the ocean, hole 18 even parallel to the Atlantic. The water hazards make the game at holes 1, 2, 5 to 7, 9 and 11 more difficult, whereby golfers must directly dare a tee-off over water at holes 1, 2, 6 and 7. At holes 5, 6, 10 and 11 an extra difficulty is a mangrove swamp. According to Golf Digest, the Comandatuba Ocean Course is one of the best golf courses of Brazil.
