TNGF Cosmo Golf Course

The TNGF Cosmo Golf Course (Tamil Nadu Golf Federation) can be found in the city of Chennai, formerly Madras, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It stretches across a 36-hectare area by the Adyar river and is surrounded by dense forests with tamarind, banyan, flame, and neem trees. From Chennai’s city center, the TNGF Cosmo Golf Course can be reached in just 20 minutes. It was established by the Honorable Viktor Alexander Hope, Governor of India, in 1938 and redesigned by golf course architect Peter Thompson in the last few years. With 6,034 meters, it is a relatively short 18-hole course with par 72 which runs along wavy terrain. Very straight, partly narrow fairways and fast, elevated greens shape the layout of the TNGF Cosmo Golf Course. It features two large water hazards that must be played across at holes 8 and 17, a few doglegs, bunkers, as well as an overhead cover through dense trees. The fairways occasionally cross each other, meaning golfers must be careful when teeing off. At three holes, golfers are forced to play across roads, but they do have the option of a re-shot. Golfers can practice for these necessary long hits at the club’s own driving range. Mastering the course requires technical know-how.
