Estela Golf Club

The Estela Golf Club is located near the town of Póvoa de Varzim in the northwest of Portugal along the North Atlantic. It is located directly in the sand dunes on the beach and follows a dune crest along the Costa Verde. From there, players have a majestic view of the ocean coast and the coastal mountains. Situated nearly ten kilometers north of Póvoa de Varzim, the Estela Golf Club is only 30 minutes by car from the well-known city of Porto via the A28. From Porto’s Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, the trip takes only 20 minutes. The club was founded in 1898 and boasts an 18-hole links course with par 72, designed by Duarte Sotto-Mayor. The 6,300-meter long, flat dunes course lies along a length of three kilometers on the sand dunes of the Costa Verde. Narrow fairways, fast, hard, and open greens, as well as two large lakes test the skills of golfers of all levels. As a reward, most fairways offer an unforgettable view of the ocean. The Estela Golf Club has already been the location of the Portuguese Open (1991) and other internationally important tournaments. It was selected by the Portuguese Golf Federation in 1993 and 2009 to be named club of the year and also won the renowned Visconde Perreira Machado Trophy.
