Falköpings Golfklubb

The Falköpings Golfklubb is located near the Swedish city of Falköping in the Västergötland province. It stretches across former estates of the historic Berga Torbjörntorp manor, which has been mentioned as early as 1745 by Linné in his work on Västagöta tourism. Thanks to its good connection to traffic, the Falköpings Golfklubb is easy to reach. From Falköping it takes 10 minutes over Route 46, and from Gothenburg, the second-largest city in Sweden, it takes 105 minutes over Route 181 and the E20. The club was founded in 1965, and features the 18-hole Old Course of the parkland type, with par 72, and the 9-hole New Course Pay&Play with par 36. The golf course architect Nils Sköld is responsible for the design of both courses. The Old Course is more than 6,000 meters long and is considered very challenging, already for its length and small, raised greens alone. A further difficulty in mastering the course is the mountain stream that winds through the longer fairways. The New Course, recently opened in 2005/2006, with its short, narrow holes and multiple natural water hazards, demands a certain tactical skill along with sporting ability from golfers of all handicaps. The 27-hole park in the Falköping Golfklubb has already been voted best golf course in Västergötland three times by Golf Digest.
