Flamingo Golf Course

The Flamingo Golf Course is located in the Tunisian coastal city of Monastir by the Gulf of Hammamet. It lies on a plateau in a hilly cliff environment with looming ravines and grants a wonderful view of the salt lakes of Monastir and the Forêt de Monastir. From the international airport and the city center, the Flamingo Golf Course can easily be reached via the C 100 in ten minutes. It was opened in 1988 as an 18-hole links course with par 72 and was designed by the well-known golf course architect Ronald Fream. In the last years, the course experienced a general reconstruction. The very hilly course measures 6,402 meters and winds upwards along the surrounding hills. It features undulating fairways, wave-shaped greens, doglegs, bunkers, and more than 2,000 olive trees around the fairways and greens. Water hazards in the form of lakes, ponds, and waterfalls await golfers at three holes. At hole 6, they must play across three lakes, and a fourth is located on the left side of the fairway. Seven holes lead across cliffs, whereby hole 8 is particularly noteworthy, requiring teeing off across a cliff to reach the green. On the fairways of the Flamingo Golf Course, golfers will find five different boxes for teeing off, so that they can play at different levels.
