Fray Bentos Golf Club

The Fray Bentos Golf Club is in the city of Fray Bentos in the Departamento de Rio Negro of the nation of Uruguay. It is in the English district of Fray Bentos at the east bank of the Rio Uruguay. From the city center of Fray Bentos, the Fray Bentos Golf Club can easily be reached in eight minutes via the Camino Monseñor Stigliani. It was built in 1928 for the British employees of the local canned meat factory Liebig’s Extract of Meat Company and was called Anglo Sports Pavillion until 1937. The 9-hole-course with par 71 was designed by Dr. Allister MacKenzie and has a length of 2,709 meters. It runs across hilly terrain and has wide fairways lined by trees. Water hazards come into play at four of the nine holes, whereby drainage ditches and a stream cross the course at the Fray Bentos Golf Club. Therefore, the latter is almost 140 meters away from the nearest green. The two holes, which have solitary trees on their fairways and that way force the golfers to well thought-out tee-offs, are significantly more demanding of the golfers. There are two different teeing boxes on the fairways, so that the course can also be played as an 18-hole-course. In its practice area, the Fray Bentos Golf Club has a driving range and a putting green for training the long and short game.
