The Gates Four Golf & Country Club is located in the city of Fayetteville in Cumberland County that belongs to the US state of North Carolina. It is embedded in a densely wooded landscape that is full of lakes, ponds and streams, and reachable in 20 minutes from the center of Fayettevilles via the Cumberland Road. In 1967, the Gates Four Golf & Country Club opened an 18-hole course in parkland style with par 72 that was designed by Willard Byrd and Dan Maples. In 2011, the golf course was redesigned by Kris Spence. Today’s course is 6,277 meters long, has mostly long fairways, which are densely lined by tall pine trees, very small and very large greens, some doglegs and bunkers, as well as water hazards at 6 of the 18 water holes. A large lake, which holes 2 to 5 wind around, dominates the curse at the Gates Four Golf & Country Club. At hole 12 and 17 golf players have to hit across water in order to reach the green. The championship course requires athletic and technical golf skills from the golf players in order to meet its standards. Nevertheless, it can be mastered by golf beginners, as well as experienced golf players. They can practice for this at the Gates Four Golf & Country Club on a driving range with 20 teeing grounds, a chipping and a putting green.
