The Gilleleje Golfklub is located on the Kattegat near the northernmost city of the Danish island of Zealand, Gilleleje. It extends over the sites of the two former farms Ferlegård and Leidemosegård, not far from the fishing port of Gilleleje. Over Route 257, the Gilleleje Golfklub can be reached from the city center in ten minutes. From Helsingør it takes 30 minutes on Route 205, and from Copenhagen it takes just short of an hour on the E47/E55 to get to the club. Founded in 1970, Gilleleje Golfklub is the oldest golf club in Denmark. It has one golf course, whose design goes back to the well-known Swedish golf course architect Jan Sederholm. He designed it as an 18-hole course of the parkland type, with par 72. The course is 5,870 meters long and runs across slightly hilly terrain, where doglegs, sand bunkers, and a few tree clusters provide a sporting challenge. There are no water hazards, however a lake with a fountain awaits the golfers as the crowning finisher to the course. Moreover, the Gilleleje Golfklub has an additional 5-hole course available for beginners and golfers who want to practice their short shots. On multiple occasions, the 18-hole course has been the venue for international golf tournaments, such as the Toyota PGA Championship 1994, which is a part of the European Challenge Tour. The Danish pro-golfer Thomas Bjørn is also sighted here often.
