Golf de Caen-Garcelles

The golf club Golf de Caen-Garcelles lies in the Norman town of Garcelles-Secqueville near Caen in the department of Calvados. It sits close to the pretty Garcelles castle from the 18th century and belongs to the 14 most noteworthy golf courses of Calvados. Golf de Caen-Garcelles can be reached in 20 minutes from Caen, which lies to the north, via the D562 and in 45 minutes from Deauville on the Atlantic coast via the A13. The golf club was founded in 1989 and boasts the 18 hole course Le Clos Neuf & Le Bois with par 70, designed by the golf course architect Olivier Brizon and Yves Bureau. The 5716 meter long course is shaped by wide fairways that become narrower for the holes farther back, cleverly placed bunkers, elevated greens, and water hazards. The back fairways run through a forest. In 2010 the 9 hole course Le Parc was added, characterized as a parkland type with its many trees, doglegs, and bunkers. The practice area of the Golf de Caen-Garcelles offers a 300 meter long driving range with 30 tees on grass, four putting greens, a pitch & putt area, practice bunkers, and a 6 hole short course golf club with fairways of 80 to 150 meters, which is ideal for practicing short shots.
