Golf de Saint-Malo

The Golf de Saint-Malo golf club can be found in the small Breton town of Le Tronchet, in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine. It is part of the Saint-Malo Golf Resort and built on the land of Domaine de St. Yvieux, a country estate from the 18th century. It lies in the middle of the Le Mesnil forest, which was once the hunting grounds of Napoleon’s most famous corsair, Robert Surcouf, and is bordered by the Lac de Mirloup. The Golf de Saint-Malo has a very good transport links connecting it to the neighboring large towns of the region. Saint-Malo is half an hour away by the Voie de la Liberté/D137. It is just under 45 minutes from Rennes to golf club via the D137. The golf club houses a 27 hole facility which consists of the 18 hole, par 72 L’Étang parkland type course and the 9 hole, par 36 Old Course. The famous golf architect Hubert Chesneau was responsible for the design of the course, which was created in 1986. L’Étang is 6,101 meters long and is spread across an area of 250 acres. Therefore, it is the largest golf course in Brittany. The tournament course has wide, bumpy fairways, huge greens, and 13 water hazards. The Old Course is 2,646 meters long and has considerably fewer water hazards, but is by no means a pitch & putt course, rather it challengers golfers to a game of tactics throughout.
