Golf du Château les Merles

The golf club Golf du Château les Merles is located to the east of the municipality of Mouleydier in the Périgord Pourpre, a landscape in southern France in the region of Aquitaine in the department Dordogne. It lies embedded between the vineyards of Bergerac and the forest of Liorac, which belongs to the Château les Merles, a castle from the 17th century and runs above the Dordogne valley. Golf du Château les Merles stretches across an area of more than 20 hectares and is well connected to the larger cities of the region. From Bergerac and its airport, the club can be reached via the D660 in 20 minutes, and from Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne, in 45 minutes via the N21. Founded in 1993, the Golf du Château les Merles features a 9 hole par 35 course that measures a length of 2549 meters. The hilly terrain is considered technically and athletically demanding with its many bunkers, water hazards, and narrow and short fairways. Still, beginners as well as experienced golfers can successfully play the course. The greens of Golf du Château les Merles are considered to be the best in the region. The club also boasts a new clubhouse in a former wine cellar of the castle les Merles as well as a restaurant that has already been mentioned in the Gault Millau.
