Golf International of Saint-François

The golf club Golf International of Saint-François is in the community of Saint-François, which belongs to the oversea department of Guadeloupe in the French Antilles. It lies on a 54-hectare-large area at the southeast tip of the island of Grande Terre. Surrounded by palm trees, small ponds and sand hills, it is in the heart of Saint-François between the picturesque lagoon of the Caribbean and the Pointe des Chateaux. From the center of Saint-François, the golf club Golf International of Saint-François can be reached via D 118 in four minutes. In 1978, it opened an 18-hole-course with par 71, which is the only 18-hole-course in Guadeloupe and which was designed by the famous golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Senior. At the end of 2010, the 5,477-meter-long course was renovated and shows very long and very short fairways, greens protected by bunkers, some doglegs, artificial lakes and ponds, but no trees today. The water hazards come into play at 8 of the 18 holes and must be overplayed by the golfers at holes 10, 11 and 18. Thereby, hole 18, whose fairway seems to almost entirely consist of a lake and which requires the entire technical know-how of golfers of all handicaps, is especially interesting on the course at the golf club Golf International of Saint-François. They can prepare and train for this on the driving range at the practice area of the club.
