Golfclub Barrière de St. Julien

The Golfclub Barrière de St. Julien lies near the Norman municipality of Pont l’Évêque in the department of Calvados. This puts it at the gate to the Pays d’Auge, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful areas in France and is famous for its three Cs, cider, Calvados, and Camembert. In the midst of apple trees, the Golfclub Barrière de St. Julien stretches out onto a 90 hectare terrain and offers a beautiful view of the Vallée de la Touques. Just ten minutes from the town center of Pont l’Évêque, the club has good transport links to the larger cities in the surrounding area of Normandy. It is easily reachable from Deauville via the A132 in 20 minutes, from Caen in 40 minutes via the A13, and from Le Havre in 45 minutes via the A29. The Golfclub Barrière de St. Julien was established in 1989 and boasts a 27 hole golf park, made up of an 18 hole course and a 9 hole course. The golf course architects Alain Pratt and Bill Baker are responsible for the course’s design. The 18 hole par 72 course Le Vallon (“valley”) was set up as a championship course and is 6638 meters long. The terrain is very hilly and even more demanding with its numerous water hazards. In contrast, the 9 hole course Le Bocage (“hedge”) with par 33 and a length of 2275 meters is also easy to master for beginners.
