Hacienda Nueva Country Club

The Hacienda Nueva Country Club is in the small town of San José Pinula, which belongs to the Departamento Guatemala, in the Central American nation of Guatemala. It lies on the southeast outskirts of the capital Guatemala City in a long, narrow valley at a height of 1,700 meters above sea level and is traversed by the Rio Calicante. The Hacienda Nueva Country Club takes up a large part of a former monastery of the Jesuits from the 16^th century, which is still largely preserved. From the city center of San José Pinula, the club can easily be reached in seven minutes via the RN-18 and from Guatemala City one can also comfortably reach it in about a half an hour via the same route. In 1996, the Hacienda Nueva Country Club opened an 18-hole-course with par 72, for whose design the golf course architect Edward Lawrence Packard was responsible. With it, he created one of the few 18-hole championship golf courses in Guatemala. The course has a length of 6,484 meters and is home to fairways lined by trees, which are arranged in fours in southwest and northeast direction. There are some water hazards, as well as a few bunkers which are strategically and cleverly placed around the greens. In the practice area, golfers find a driving range, a putting and chipping green, as well as a short game area with practice bunkers.
