Hagley Golf Club

A truly stunning golf course in the middle of Christchurch, at the eastern coast of the South Island. The Hagley Golf Club was founded in 1904. It has a history of golf that reaches back to the 1870s, and is thus the oldest golf course in the whole of Canterbury. The par-72 course has a total length of 5,814 meters. Even though the course is a designated 18 hole course, it really only boasts 12 holes, and players play the first six holes twice (either from another tee or from another green). The facilities of the Hagley Golf Club are located above Lake Victoria in the North Hagley Park. In spite of its location in the middle of the city, it still offers an oasis of quiet and relaxation as well as a very cheerful ambience. The course is quite challenging due to its undulating profile, even if you can’t tell at first sight. The park ambience with large, ancient trees and very well-tended fairways and greens give this golf club its unique character. Guests are always welcome here, except on Saturdays before 11 a.m., when club members are given priority. On-site, you will find a small clubhouse and a golfing academy. The Hagley Golf Club offers a pretty site, only a few minutes from the center of Christchurch, which can be called the most “English” city of New Zealand.
