Harvard Golf & Country Club

The Harvard Golf & Country Club lies near the small Malaysian town of Bedong in the northern state of Kedah. It spans an area of 585 hectares in a tropical park landscape at the foot of the Gunung Jerai mountain. An 8-minute journey from Bedong’s center, the Harvard Golf & Country Club is also quick to reach from the tourist town of Gurun in ten minutes. The club was first established as an exclusive country club for the local British upper class in 1927. In 1956, it initially opened a 9-hole course, but now two more have followed, meaning golfers encounter three 9-hole courses with par 36 at the Harvard Golf & Country Club. These can be played as an 18-hole course in different combinations. The Guthrie Nine Course measures 3,376 meters and was designed by Bobby Lim, Malaysia’s first pro golfer. It displays broad fairways, few water hazards, and a few sand bunkers. The Harvard Nine Course is 3,492 meters long and was created by the Australian golf course architect Ted Parslow. This course’s layout also runs along flat terrain with wide fairways, several ponds, and bunkers. Guthrie and Harvard are played together as a championship course. The Jerai Nine Course is the shortest golf course at the Harvard Golf & Country Club with 3,131 meters and is one of Malaysia’s oldest courses.
