Hawick Golf Club

The Hawick Golf Club is situated between Selkirk and Langholm near the Kielder Forest Park and the Norhumberland National Park. Although the club can be reached from Edinburgh or Newcastle upon Tyne in around 90 minutes, in takes nearly two hours from Glasgow. Founded in 1877, the Hawick Golf Club belongs to one of the oldest golf and most traditional clubs in all of Scotland. The 18-hole golf course (par 69), named “Vertish Hill,” (designed by golf legend James Braid) offers especially athletic elements and beautiful grounds thanks to its hilly terrain. Due to the sloping location, hole 6 is not to be underestimated in terms of wind. The 15th hole on the top of the hill can easily distract players with its panorama view of the surrounding area. The last three holes, and especially the 18th hole, demand an especially powerful tee in order to conquer the sloped fairways. Hawick Golf Club also has a PGA-certified golf professional to train guests; the club also regularly hosts tournaments. The historic club house has been thoroughly renovated and offers a cozy lounge and a bar with refreshments.
