Heritage Golf Club

The Heritage Golf Club is situated in the southern part of the African island nation of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It stretches across an area of more than 100 hectares on the country estate Domaine du Bel Ombre, offering a view of the ocean, meadows, forests, and the volcanic mountains in the Black River Gorges National Park. From Port Louis, the island’s capital, one can easily reach the club, which belongs to the Heritage Golf Club and Spa Resort, via the M 2 in about an hour. It was established in 2004 and houses a 27-hole complex comprised of the 18-hole Golf de Château Course with par 72 and the 9-hole Pitch & Putt Masty Course with par 27. Both golf courses were designed by the South African golf course architect Peter Matkovitch. The Golf de Château Course in the Heritage Golf Club runs along slightly hilly terrain with a length of 6,498 meters. Its fairways are broad and framed by sugar cane and other exotic plants. The greens are fast, undulating, and placed in a strategically clever way. River courses such as the Citronniers River and the St. Martin River cross through the course. Numerous additional water hazards in the form of ponds and lakes force golfers to tee off across water. Several doglegs and bunkers also contribute to the high standard of the course.
