Kalix Golfklubb

The Kalix Golfklubb is situated in the north Swedish town of Kalix in the Norrbotten province, at the mouth of the Kalix River into the Gulf of Bothnia. The club lies just 50 kilometers from the Finnish border and offers a beautiful view over the sea. By taking the Nyborgsvägen and the E4, the Kalix Golfklubb is quickly reached from the center of Kalix. From the next-largest city, Luleå, the club is a 50-minute drive on the E4. The Kalix Golfklubb was founded in 1990. Initially it opened a short course and a driving range, before adding the first nine holes for an 18-hole course in 1991. The golf course architect Jan Sederholm is responsible for their designs, and in 1992 he also designed the next nine holes. In 1994, the Kalix Golfklubb finally opened the 18-hole course of the parkland/woodland/seaside type, with par 71. The slightly hilly terrain with doglegs, bunkers, trees, bushes, shrubs, and water hazards provides a sporting and tactical challenge for golfers of all levels. The 5,437-meter long course is one of the best in Norrland, and in 2014 was voted the third-best course in Norrbotten by Golf Digest. The Kalix Golfklubb also offers golfers a 6-hole short course and a putting green for short game practice, and has clubs, as well as trolleys and electric carts, available for rental.
