The Kashmir Golf Club lies in the northern Indian city of Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It sits at a height of 1,730 meters on a 21-hectare terrain that borders on the city’s main road, Maulana Azad Road, and is located near the Jhelam river. From Srinagar’s center, the Kashmir Golf Club can quickly be reached in about ten minutes via the Chinar Bagh Bund. It was established back in 1886 and owns the second oldest golf course outside of Great Britain. The 18-hole course with par 70 was completely ravaged by a catastrophic flood in 2014. Complete restoration work began in May 2016, led by two well-known golf course architects, Australian Phil Ryan and Indian Vijit Nandrajog. The main goal lies in raising the level of the course. The plans for the Kashmir Golf Club’s course include long, wide fairways that run beside each other between cinchona trees and pine trees. Well-placed bunkers in the shape of fingers as well as many water hazards such as lakes, ponds, and streams serve as obstacles that cross the fairways and must be played across.
