Katrineholms Golfklubb

The Katrineholms Golfklubb is located near the southern Swedish city of Katrineholm in the Sörmland province. It is on the site of the former Jättorp farm, which has a history that goes back for centuries. Due to its good connections to traffic, the Katrineholms Golfklubb is easily reached from near and far. Just 12 minutes from Katrineholm, it can be reached over Route 52 and the Eriksbergsvägen. The Katrineholms Golfklubb can also be reached from Nyköpping in just under 45 minutes on Route 52. From Stockholm, it takes 105 minutes on the E4. The Katrineholms Golfklubb was founded in 1959, and initially opened a 9-hole course designed by Nils Sköld in 1963. By 1973, the course was expanded to an 18-hole course of the parkland/woodland type, with par 72. Ever since a further 9-hole course of the woodland type, designed by Bengt Lorichs, was added in 2001, the 18-hole course is called the “Old Course”. In Sweden, it is known as one of the best courses in the country. In 2016-2018 the Old Course in the Katrineholms Golfklubb will be the venue for the European Challenge Tour Sweden. In 2012 and 2015, the club itself was voted golf club of the year by a golf magazine. Additionally, it is the home club of the former European number-1 golfer Robert Karlsson.
