The Kerigolf golf club is located in Kerimäki, which since 2003 is a district of Savonlinna, on the eastern Finnish Saimaa Lake. It lies idyllically in the middle of the woods on the western shore of Puruvesi Lake. It is about 10 minutes away from the center of Kerimäki, which houses the largest wooden church in the world. Thanks to the nearby Finnish mecca for opera, Savonlinna, Kerigolf is well connected to traffic. From Savonlinna it is a 20-minute drive on Route 14 to the golf club, and from the second most important city in the Savo district, Mikkeli, it is a 90-minute drive on Routes 5 and 14. Kerigolf was opened in 1989, and hosts an 18-hole course of the parkland type, with par 72, whose design goes back to the well-known golf course architect Ronal Fream. The 5,775-meter long course is harmoniously incorporated into the forest landscape. It is defined with numerous hills, water hazards, sand bunkers, fast fairways, small greens, and noticeable height differences, which pose a challenge for golfers of all handicaps. Special feature at Kerigolf are the bear statues that are spread around the course and represent the symbol of the Finnish golf club. The club has a short game area, a driving range, and a putting green. Due to the hilly landscape and the length of the course, it is recommended to rent an electric cart in order to comfortably enjoy the golfing all the way to the last hole.
