The Kiahuna Golf Club is situated near the towns of Poipu and Koloa on the southern banks of Poipu Beach on the island of Kauai, which belongs to Kauai County in the US state of Hawaii. It is integrated into archaeological remnants of the Polynesian culture on Kauai and also runs along caves with a protected type of spider, lava walls, and stone structures. From Koloa, the Kiahuna Golf Club can be reached in six minutes, and in nine minutes from Poipu. It opened an 18-hole course with par 70 in 1984, the design of which stems from the famous golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. In 2005, Kiahuna Golf Club’s course was reconstructed by John Colligan. The 6,332 meter long course is shaped by fairways that are wide and open for the first nine holes, but rather narrow in contrast for the second nine. It comprises many bunkers, numerous doglegs, but only few trees. There are water hazards at nine holes, which must be played across at holes 3, 12 and 13. Hole 12 crosses a stream, while holes 3 and 7 share a double green. Golfers can tee off at six different tee boxes and thereby adjust to a variety of difficulty levels. At Kiahuna Golf Club, golfers will find a driving range as well as a putting and chipping green in the practice area.
