La Hacienda Heathland Course

Since 2007, there has been another golf course near Gibraltar in addition to La Hacienda Links Golf Resort – Links: the 6,3737-meter long La Hacienda Heathland-Course. It is not located directly on the coast, but somewhat inland. Nevertheless, it offers just as fantastic views of the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The 18-hole course with par 72 was designed by the well-known and former professional golfer and Ryder Cup player, Dave Thomas. He integrated the Heathland-Course harmoniously into the beautiful natural mountain valley landscape. The course is characterized by wide fairways, fast greens, and tricky water hazards. The fairways are relatively easy, beginning near the plateau, but increase in difficulty to an athletically challenging course. Because there some differences in altitude and the fairways are quite long, it is recommended to rent a cart. The practice area of the club does not leave much to be desired. There is a driving range with 72 tees, as well putting, pitching, and chipping greens. If interested, one can improve his handicap at the golf academy. Equipment can be rented on-site at the Pro Shop. The comfortable club restaurant serves as a popular meeting point with a great view of the course from the patio. Along the nearby beach, there are nice bars and restaurants. Guests are welcome at the La Hacienda Heathland all year round. A handicap of 28 (men) or 36 (women) is required.
