Labuan International Golf Club (LIGC)

The Labuan International Golf Club is situated in the southwestern part of the eastern Malaysian island of Labuan. It stretches across an area of 81 hectares near the beach, with a view of the South China Sea and green vegetation. From Bandar Labuan, the capital of the island, the Labuan International Golf Club is easy to reach in about 20 minutes. It opened in 2013 and is home to an 18-hole parkland course with par 72. Its design was completed by Australian golf course architect Ted Parslow and Winter Golf Course Design. The 6,182-meter long course spans hilly terrain with narrow, tree-lined fairways and undulating, small, partly elevated greens. Many deep finger bunkers are characteristic of the course, which give the Labuan International Golf Club its technical and athletic challenges together with water hazards in the form of lakes and ponds. Water plays a role at 10 of the 18 holes, but golfers only need to overcome it at 5 of these. Hole 10 is particularly notable, with two ponds that must be played across and a peninsula fairway. The Labuan International Golf Club is the only 18-hole course on Labuan. Equipped with floodlights, golfing is also possible at night. Its practice area provides a driving range with 16 mat tees and 22 grass tees for golfers. A practice green with sand bunkers is also available.
