The Lake Placid Club is located in the city center of Lake Placid, that is in Essex County in the US state of New York. It runs along a 225-hectare-large area in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains with a view on their highest peak, Mount Marcy. Located only five minutes away from Lake Placid’s city center, the Lake Placid Club can be reached in five hours from New York via the interstate 87 N. Is has a 45-hole golf course that consists of two 18-hole championship courses and one 9-hole executive course. In 1909, the links course with par 71 and a length of 6,448 meters was opened. The Scottish golf course architect Seymour Dunn, that designed the course in the typical Scottish links style, was in charge of its design. Far open fairways, large, wavy greens, many bunkers and water hazards at five holes characterize its layout. In 1910, the Mountain Course with par 70 and a length of 5,944 meters was added. Alexander Findlay was in charge of its design and made it hilly with straight fairways, lined with trees, smaller greens and only two water hazards. The same year, Findlay created the Pristine Executive Course at the Lake Placid Club. It winds up the hills with a length of 1,402 meters and 82- to 246-meter-long fairways and par 29. According to the links magazine, the Lake Placid Club is one of the eight icons of American resort golf.
