Le Golf de Médoc

The Le Golf de Médoc golf club is situated near to the village of Le Pian-Médoc, which is native to the famous Médoc wine country in the Aquitaine region. Situated north of Bordeaux in the department of Gironde, it spans an area of 3.8 hectares. The Le Golf de Médoc can be reached via the Allée Grammont/D211 and the Chemin de Courmateau in a good five minutes from Le Pain-Médoc. The capital of the region, Bordeaux, is 40 minutes away from the club by the D1. The golf club was founded in 1989 and houses a 36 hole facility which consists of two 18 hole courses. The par 71 Les Châteaux course is a links course which was designed by the American golf course architect Bill Coore as a tournament course. In 1991 the par 71 Les Vignes course was added, which dates back to the design of the Canadian Rhod Whitman. Les Châteaux is 6,316 meters long with broad fairways, large, very fast greens, doglegs, bunkers and numerous water hazards, edged by gorse and heather. Les Vignes is 6,220 meters long and offers flat, but challenging, courses and long greens, flanked by pines and heather. The Le Golf Médoc is considered one of the most beautiful golfing facilities in the region and was chosen as the best golf course in France in 2014 by the World Golf Award.
