Le Golf du Château d’Augerville

The Le Golf du Château d’Augerville golf club is situated in the palace grounds of the Château d’Augerville in the town of Augerville-la-Rivière in the Centre-Val de Loire region, in the department of Loiret in central France. It affords beautiful views of the 12th century castle which the French King Charles VII had built for his mistress, Agnès Sorel, and which belonged to the millionaire American Vanderbilt family in the 1920s. Le Golf du Château d’Augerville spans 100 hectares and has excellent transport links to Paris and Fontainebleu. From Paris, it is an hour’s journey to the club via the A6 and from the famous palace grounds of Fontainebleu, it is only 30 minutes by the D152 and D36. The club was established in 1995 and is home to a par 72, 18 hole parkland course, whose design dates back to the golf course architect Olivier Dongradi. The very hilly course with its different heights, innumerable ponds, doglegs, water and very large greens passed through by water makes for an extremely challenging game for golfers of all skill levels. The Essonne river snakes along the 6,294 meter course up until the 18th hole in front of the Château d’Augerville. The Le Golf du Château d’Augerville was number 28 in the list of the best golf courses in France in 2013 and is considered one of the courses with the most beautiful greens.
