Legend Golf & Safari Resort

The Legend Golf & Safari Resort can be found near the South African village of Sterkrivier in the northern province of Limpopo. It lies at an elevation of 1,800 meters, at the foot of the Hanglip Mountain in the wildlife reserve Entabeni Safari Conservancy and winds through open grasslands and thick bushes. The trip from Sterkrivier‘s center to the Legend Golf & Safari Resort via Haakdoring Road takes about ten minutes, while the journey from the next largest town of Mokopane via the R 101 requires half an hour. The resort was founded in 2009 and opened the 18-hole Legends Course, a world-in-one signature course with par 72 and an additional extreme 19-hole course with par 3 as well as the 10-hole tribute par 3 course with par 27, all of which were created by golf course architect Doue van der Mere of DDV Golf Design. Each hole of the 18-hole championship course was designed by a legendary golfer. The highlight is the extreme hole 19, the longest and highest par 3 in the world, for which golfers are flown to the tee on Hanglip Mountain with a helicopter, tee off 400 meters downwards to a 1,600-square-meter green shaped like the African continent. For the 10-hole tribute course at the Legend Golf & Safari Resort, each hole was modeled after the best par 3 holes in the world and thereby displays famous reproductions of the most beautiful holes.
