On the east coast of Scotland, in the small port town of Montrose, lies a golf course that has yet to meet its match: Montrose Golf Links Ltd. – Medal Course. The prestigious award-winning golf complex is among the oldest golf courses in the world with both its 18-hole courses. According to the club’s history, golf was played here for the first time in 1562 which decidedly influenced the sport. In 1901 and 1903, Montrose Golf Links Ltd. – Medal Course., received its current layout from the golf architects Old Tom Morris and Willie Park Junior. The flat traditional Scottish links course with par 71 is 6,021-meters (white) long and challenging even for experienced golfers. Wind, dunes, broom bushes, resilient green, as well as deep bunkers and wavy fairways demand technical know-how and strategy. Fantastic views of the landscape and the sea make the Medal Course a unique golf experience and one of the top courses worldwide. Large tournaments regularly take place here amid heightened public interest (World Hickory Open, Europro Tour etc.). The training area is also excellent. There is also an on-site Pro Shop and a golf school. After a round of golf, people like to meet at the club restaurant to rejuvenate themselves and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. The Montrose Golf Links Ltd. – Broomfield Course is open from April to October. It is approximately 50 kilometers from Dundee.
