Newton Stewart Golf Club

The Newton Stewart Golf Club is located between Dumfries and Stranraer, directly near the Galloway Forest Park. Via the nearby A75, this golf course is well-connected to the surrounding area and via the M6 to Carlisle. The traditional 18-hole golf course (par 69) was founded in 1896 and offers spectacular views of the impressive landscape including occasional views of the wildlife. The Galloway Hill, situated directly behind the Newton Stewart Golf Club, invites visitors to cycle, hike, and fish – before or after a round of golf. The open parkland at this course is dotted by hazards in the form of waterways and individual trees. For example, at the 12th hole, a blind tee is known as “Soup Plate,” requiring golfers to tee across the fairway. At the 14th hole, even experienced golfers are challenged due to the narrow fairway and the various sand bunkers. Altogether, the hilly terrain conditions at the Newton Stewart Golf Club make the course significantly more challenging as one would initially suspect. A putting green allows players to practice; trolleys and buggies can also be rented.
