The Ontario Country Club (formerly known as the Brookwoods Country Club) is near the cities Ontario and Webster that belong to Wayne County in the US state of New York. It runs not far from the southern bank of Lake Ontario in an idyllic forest and meadow landscape. Quickly reachable within 13 minutes from the city centers in Ontario and Webster, it takes about a half an hour via the NY-286 E from the larger city Rochester to the Ontario Country Club. in 1928, it opened an 18-hole course in parkland style with par 72, which was designed by Geoffrey Cornish and George Swatt. In 1981, the Ontario course at the Ontario Country Club was redesigned by Brian Silva. The course is 6,223 meters long and has mostly long, straight fairways and fat greens, a few doglegs, but many bunkers and water hazards. A river crosses the course and therefore also the holes 1, 2 and 15 to 18. At holes 3 to 6, 8 and 11 to 13 the golf players come across large lakes, ponds and streams that partially have to be overplayed. Overall, water hazards require athletic and technical know-how from the golf players at 14 of the 18 holes. The golf course has only a few trees on the fairways and only the holes 14 to 16 show a more dense forestation. The championship course at the Ontario Country Club is among the top 5 courses in the region around Rochester.
