Porthmadog Golf Club

The coastal Porthmadog Golf Club is situated near the estuary bay of the river Afon Dwyryd in a favored vacation region with wonderful landscapes. The 18-hole golf course was designed by the famount golf architect James Braid in 1905 and is only three hours away from Birmingham by car. The traditional links course is dominated by heathland along the first nine fairways, while the last nine offer beautiful views of the coastal landscape of Cardigan Bay and the Snowdownia Mountains. The at times unpredictable wind, the trees, and the irregular terrain make the first hole at Porthmadog Golf Club one of the most difficult in the entire region of Northern Wales. Numerous waterways and small lakes dot the attractive golf course; the sixth hole is well-guarded by a flanking lake, for example. Due to the hilly landscape and the large sand dune, the fourteenth fairway is nicknamed “Himalayas.” As the club house is located between the ninth hole and the tee at the tenth fairway, it is well-situated for a short break or refreshing drink during the summer. At the Porthmadog Golf Club, a Pro Shop offers equipment and stylish golf clothing for purchase.
