The Resort at Squaw Creek golf club is located near the town of Squaw Valley which hosted the 1960 Olympic Winter Games in Placer County, California. It is situated on idyllic Lake Tahoe at an elevation of 1,889 meters and offers a wonderful view of the six peaks of the Sierra Nevada. From downtown Squaw Valley, also known as Olympic Valley, the Resort at Squaw Creek can be reached in only six minutes. Due to its close proximity to Nevada, it can be reached from Reno in only 45 minutes via I 80 E. The club opened its 18-hole course, type links with par 70, in 1991, designed by the golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. The 6,337-meter long course is narrow with many tree-flanked fairways, bunkers, and water hazards. While the first nine holes lead up the hillside, the back nine snake through swamps and wetlands. Hole 6 is the course’s signature hole at which golfers must play over water at a significant elevation. The championship course at the Resort at Squaw Creek has four different tees at each hole, allowing for varying degrees of difficulty. The course is tactically and technically challenging, but can be mastered by both beginners and experienced golfers.
