Santa Margarita Club de Golf

The Santa Margarita golf course is situated to the northwest of Irapuato in the state of Guanajuato, in the center of the country. The city was founded in 1547 and is located at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters. The golf course is just a few minutes’ drive away from the inner city. Santa Margarita Club de Golf was designed by the golf course architect Arq. Mario Schejtnan and was opened in 1978. The site includes an 18-hole course with par-72. The course belongs to a housing estate, a so-called gated community with single-family and terraced houses in a sophisticated style. The fairways are very long and narrow, spanning a total distance of 6,260 meters. The Santa Margarita Club de Golf facility is very well-kept. Trees and bushes surround the lanes. Strategically placed bunkers provide athletic challenges for beginners and advanced golfers alike. From a bird’s-eye view, the course resembles two butterfly wings, with two green ribbons winding through the estates. There is a clubhouse in the center, along with a pool, tennis courts, restaurants and additional leisure and wellness facilities. Santa Margarita Club de Golf is a semi-private site, which is open all year round to guests and visitors if they register. If desired, one can warm up on the driving range or on the training greens, and also rent golf clubs or carts on site.
