Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa

This newly-built golf course is located within a luxurious hotel complex on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. The luxury resort opened its doors for the first time in 2016. The Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa has an 18-hole course with a par of 70. The complex extends along a fantastic site directly beside the Indian Ocean. The terrain is flat. The course winds its way through three different landscapes: a former coconut plantation, a dune landscape, and a former sapphire mine. The 18-hole Hambantota golf course was designed by internationally renowned golf course architect Rodney Wright. The course is no easy feat due to its narrow fairways and numerous water features and bunker hazards. For men, the golf course is 5,584 meters. For women, the course is significantly shorter at 4,045 meters. The Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa is a delight thanks to its magnificent location and exclusivity. As the complex is very new, the trees and plants on the golf course need a little more time to establish themselves, but even now the cultivated course makes a superb overall impression. Those who wish can hire golf equipment from the pro shop and book coaching sessions or courses. In terms of culinary delights, there are three restaurants and a number of bars at the Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa. The golf course is situated to the west of Hambantota. Nature lovers can enjoy excursions to the bird reserve Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary or to the Rekawa Turtle Conservation Project.
