The Golf Club at Terra Lago

The Golf Club at Terra Lago is located in the city of Indio, Riverside County, in the southern part of California. It is situated at Terra Lago, near the Joshua Tree National Park and the Coachella festival field, along the foothills of the Indian Hills. The Golf Club at Terra Lago offers a wonderful view of the Coachella Valley with Californian mountains in the background. From Palm Spring’s, the club can be reached via I 10 E in around half an hour. The club opened in 36-holes in 1999 as two courses: The North and South Courses. Both courses’ fairways traverses nearly two kilometers along the banks of the Southern California All-American Canal, until finally reaching the Berme Dike. The golf course architects Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley from the Landmark Golf Company were responsible for designing the course at the Golf Club at Terra Lago. The North Course with par 71 is 6,455-meters long and characterized by spectacular differences in altitude, fast, wavy greens, steep cliffs, and natural desert vegetation. Hole 15, however, remains highlight with its island green. The South Course with par 72 is 6,441-meters long and is characterized by water hazards and sand dunes. Interesting is also the “Box Car Hole” (hole 2) that runs along the left side of the canal. Golfers must cross the canal via an old, vintage railroad boxcar instead of a wooden bridge.
